5 Cute Android Apps for Kawaii Lovers

Hello!

I'm sharing another 5 cute/kawaii android apps I've recently installed on my phone! Well, not all of them are really kawaii, but nonetheless, they are Japanese-related. :) I already shared a list like this before and you can see the post here. Be sure to check that out as well! :)

1. Cute Memo

Yes, I'm too in love with cuteness, even my memo should be kawaii! I went hunting for cute memos in the play store, it was like I went on trial and error! And finally, I found the app which is cute enough to satisfy me. I hope more cutie feature would be added though.

2. Moe Girl Cafe

This is a good cutie game with lots of potential, but still lacking. It's quite hard to earn money and widen your cafe. But, the moe girls are really cute! I hope I can employ them all but I'll be bankrupt with all their pay. Lol.

3. B612

I love the filters of this photo editor app! It seems this is really popular in Japan right now, well this is from the developers of LINE camera, now aillis. :)

4. The Idol Dormitory

This one really makes my lonely heart go dokidoki! Hahaha. Being an idol fangirl, this really makes me happy. I love the idea of being able to live with idols! If you're an idol fan too, this will make your heart go kyun kyun too, I bet!

5. Saiko+

This is a little like an instagram app for anime, manga, comic, cartoons, games, and cosplay. If you love any one of those, this can be a platform for you to express your feelings where the people can actually relate to you. It's still on its alpha stage though, meaning it's just starting so forgive its shortcomings for now.

There you go! I'll make a third post like this if ever I'll find a bunch of cute or kawaii Android apps again. :)

Note: I am not in any way affiliated with the developers/creators of the mentioned apps. If you have any claims, please direct them to the developers/creators. Thank you.

Kasuka na Kanojo Drama Review

(Photo credits goes to its rightful owners)

"Junior high school teacher Kamiyama Akira has the ability to sense ghosts, and his new school has a ghost named Akane who used to be a teacher." (from dramawiki) Note: Akane is not really at school though, she's a ghost in Akira's new apartment.

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: 0
Doesn't really interest me because i'm not really interested with ghosts and I did question that aspect. (I didn't know they'll prove me wrong!)

Story development: +1
Oh yes, this just really proved me wrong. The synopsis is not enough to explain how good is the development in this story. The ghost stuff actually made it more engaging both in the mystery and comedy side.

Conclusion: +1
I'm not really sure about how will the relationship of the two leads go from here, but I would like to cheer them on. Lol.

Members of the cast: +1
Yes, I'm thinking Katori Shingo might already be my most favorite SMAP member. Hahaha. Interesting casting of students - Morimoto Shinatro, Iwahashi Genki, Jinguji Yuta, Honoka Miki, Yamamoto Maika and my dearest Hirose Suzu (I just adore her so much after watching Gakkou no Kaidan. Hahaha!) Matsui Kenta is a discovery! (As I've said on one of my previous posts.)

Portrayal of roles: +1
This made me want to have Katori Shingo as my teacher! He seems like a very reliable adult, even with his tone when talking! I really like his portrayal! However, a certain drawback is Anne who until now never fails to make me feel awkward whenever I'm watching her. Lol, sorry but she really feels awkward for me. I think it might be because of her expressions. The students are really good too, a little more push for Iwahashi Genki and Jinguji Yuta who I think are both still quite shy, but nevertheless, they're young and I can forgive that. Yamamoto Maika is the bomb! Hahaha. I really liked her in the drama 49, she was so innocent and lovable in there. This time, she was this irritating rebellious kid, at first I thought I don't liker anymore, but then it hit me, it just proves how flexible her acting is. She can turn from this innocent/lovable girl into a rebellious spoiled brat who wants attention. Just have to commend her acting ability.

Character development: +1
Yes, adults tend to forget their wills as well. So I guess, Akira-sensei was growing with his students in this drama. And oh, they just fit well all together.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
It was an SMAP song but it didn't really catch my attention or whatsoever, but it's SMAP. Hahaha. I would probably look for the song in the future, anyway.

Every episode was a fun watch: +1
Yes, it's a delight to see so many familiar faces in this drama, and see them in different scenes. And as I've stated earlier, the story development is good.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: +1
Yes. Though I was not really anticipating what will happen with Akira and Akane's love story, I was looking forward on how Akira will reach his students.

It became a favorite: +1
Yes, I really enjoyed it. Not just because it has too much eye candy, but also because it actually has sense even if they use ghost stuff, and it's not just random repeat scenarios of a willful teacher dealing with students on their rebellious years. The story actually has a good core.

(minus .5)
Because Anne is just so awkward to watch for me. Lol. Sorry not sorry.

Final Rating: 8.5/10

Other comments/thoughts:
It turns out to be very entertaining for me!

Gakkou no Kaidan Drama Review

(Photo credits goes to its rightful owner)

Haruna Tsubame, an inconspicuous high school girl, is always sensitive to people’s moods and keeps the peace in school. One day, she gets pushed to become the president of the student council by the people around her. Tsubame's encounter with a man who is a genius speechwriter, leads to a revolution in school. She struggles to change a school full of irrationality and dissatisfaction with the power of words. (from dramawiki)

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: +1
I've heard this is something crazy like Kazoku Game, where Kamiki Ryunosuke was also in. The promotional poster intrigued me so much that I just had to prioritize this one.

Story development: +1
While I couldn't care less about Platina 8, the story development happening in the lives of the 2 lead characters Tsubame Haruna and Shizukui Kei were really engaging.

Conclusion: +1
I love it that they added a hint of romance in the end! I love the conclusion that no one's actually that bad, it's a misunderstanding, makes you realize people should talk about their feeling more to avoid these troublesome misunderstandings.

Members of the cast: +1
Like! I admire Kamiki Ryunosuke and have watched a lot of his dramas/filmsHirose Suzu and Suga Kenta were discoveries in this drama. I'm familiar with almost half of the Platina 8 as well.

Portrayal of roles: +1
Kamiki Ryunosuke just upped his acting in a very excellent level on this one. This is not even a mystery drama but his lines were so long, it's very admirable that he was able to pull this off! As what we can expect from a child actor, right? So great. Hirose Suzu is very laudable as well with her performance, and how can she be so pretty? Hahaha. Platina 8 is a bunch of rich spoiled kids, but I guess they are quite effective because they are annoying. Lol. But I have to say, Kamiki Ryunosuke and Hirose Suzu really carried this drama.

Character development: +1
I really appreciate the character development between the two leads. About Platina 8, well it's good that they have their own shortcomings and problems as well, glad to know they have deepness within them too.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
I love the insert song "Just One Girl" by Fujiwara Sakura. The message of the song really suits the drama or the story of our heroine Tsubame Haruna. And, the song is in full English!

Every episode was a fun watch: +1
Yes, undeniably. A few boring scenes here and there, but that's forgivable.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: +1
Yes, I was looking forward to knowing how Haruna and Kei's relationship would go. XD :)

It became a favorite: +1
Yes, Kamiki Ryunosuke and Hirose Suzu just did very well to make this probably one of the best dramas of Winter 2015. I think the two just carried this so well, you can forgive its shortcomings.

(minus .5)
I couldn't quite gauge why the Platina 8 have to be Platina 8. Can't it be 5 or 6? Lol. Because they are 8, one can think they are really just a bunch of rich spoiled kids. I don't think having eight of them is necessary.

Final Rating: 9.5/10

Other comments/thoughts:
Unexpected chemistry between Kamiki Ryunosuke and Hirose Suzu who have 4 years age gap with each other! I ship this pairing now! I hope they can work together again someday.

Suikyu Yankees Drama Review

(Credit for the photo goes to its rightful owner)

"Naoya Inaba (Nakajima Yuto) grew up abroad and from his childhood experience, he thought “yankees” were the strongest heroes (in Japan "yankee" refers to delinquent youths). He was influenced by Japanese yankee mangas while he was abroad and grew up to be always full of 'chivalrous' spirit, like how he sees his yankee heroes.

Naoya arrives to spend a year in a high school in Japan. He attends in a technical high school in which the location is famously known as the center for "water polo supremacy". His school, however, is the ridicule of the area and on the verge of closing down. Naoya loves the school because a yankee, whom he admired as a child, was once a student there. However, he soon realized that there are no real yankees like hero figures, only students who spend their days meaninglessly. Naoya is disappointed and decided to do something about it." (from dramawiki)

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: 0
I'm not into yankee dramas since I have an image most of the actors/actresses have a tendency to overact when they are playing yankee, and I can't quite relate to it as well. The synopsis doesn't really interest me because I think it's just like the usual yankee dramas.

Story development: +1
I actually found myself hooked into the story, it gets interesting. It's because it didn't dwell only on the yankee side, but on the sports side as well. It's not about angst and nonsense fighting of a yankee, I got to thank the writer he stirred the story in a good direction.

Conclusion: +1
Well, if you want it and you work hard on it, the hard work shall pay off.

Members of the cast: +1
The members of the cast is the main reason I gave this drama a chance even if I'm not too attracted by the synopsis. Nakajima Yuto, Yamazaki Kento, Takaki Yuya, Chiba Yudai, Yoshizawa Ryo, Mamiya Shotaro, and Ohara Sakurako, all of them in one drama. This is precious. Shinkawa Yua is a discovery.

Portrayal of roles: +1
Good. I didn't find Nakajima Yuto too overacting, though he might be in some scenes, but I liked his overall portrayal after all. Nakajima Yuto has this image of a good, humble, and upright guy. I think he fits the role very well. I sensed more chemistry with Yamazaki Kento and Ohara Sakurako though, I wanted their characters to end up together.

Character development: +1
Yes, I like it that no one's actually selfish and everyone's actually thinking of each other. They are teenagers but they have great affection for each other, good friendship.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
It's nice to hear Hey! Say! JUMP's Ashita e no YELL in every episode. It suits the will of the drama perfectly.

Every episode was a fun watch: +1
Yes, I really enjoyed them. Who wouldn't? There's too much eye-candy in the cast! Hahaha.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: +1
Yes. It's mostly because I was hoping Ryuuji and Nagisa's relationship would go further. Lol. But, it's thrilling to see them play water polo. Even though there may be some camera tricks used while playing the sports, I think the actors are still commendable because they still had to learn the basics and had training.

It became a favorite: +1
Yes. It's mostly because of the cast. I think they made me love the story. And it's because it's them, that this dramas turned out great. I think the actors have good working chemistry and I don't find them awkward.

(minus .5)
I didn't sense chemistry between Nakajima Yuto and Ohara Sakurako, not working chemistry, but chemistry as a pairing. I think Yuto's not too good in romance, or he's not yet prepared for such roles yet, but it's forgivable since romance is not really the main point of this drama.

Final Rating: 8.5/10

Other comments/thoughts:
You might question why is it a favorite when it's only 8.5, right? Well, I think dramas cannot be perfect in all aspects but if I found it heartfelt, or I appreciate it after watching it, it can be a favorite no matter how it lacks in other aspects.

Mondai no Aru Restaurant Drama Review

(Credit for the photo goes to its rightful owner)

Tanaka Tamako had been working for a male-dominated restaurant business but was betrayed by her boyfriend who was hired as the chef. In addition, she is taken to the police as a result of an incident she caused because her friend Morimura Kyoko was subjected to sexual harassment. Tamako resigns from her unreasonable company and starts a bistro selling homemade pot-au-feu on a rooftop in an alley in Jingumae, Tokyo. This is the story of females who are labelled "write-offs" and the restaurant they have established in order for them to get out from life's abyss. They battle difficulties and search for ways to change their lives as they experience the joys of work. This is a problem restaurant because they are all females with problems, but it is certainly not lousy. The women who have a common enemy – men, and the restaurant unites them in a fight to the death. (from dramawiki)

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: +1
At first, I thought that this is just a random comedy drama, but it gained really positive comments online. And when I started to understand the plot and setting in the latter part of the first episode, I just knew that I should continue watching.

Story development: +1
There is something actually happening every episode. I love that they didn't just focus on what's happening with Tamako's life (Tamako is the lead character). You can understand where each character is coming from because their lives were portrayed very well. Everything happening in an episode is agreeable because it is humane, and so, people can empathize with it.

Conclusion: +1
I would have loved Bistro Fou to be successful, still up and running at Omotesando. But when I saw the ending, I felt good even though the ending wasn't what I expected it to be. It's still very true to the feelings conveyed in this drama, I must say. And I love it that the ending can actually result to a season 2! Lol. I hope so, but they should think about another conflict.

Members of the cast: +1
I really like Maki Yoko ever since I've watched her in Osozaki no Himawari (opposite Ikuta Toma). Likewise, she was impressive in MOZU. Watching Higashide Masahiro was a first for me, I'm actually surprised that this is my first Higashide Masahiro drama, I've known him for quite a few years now. I'm familiar with the other cast members as well.

Portrayal of roles: +1
Seeing Maki Yoko being jolly, different from her character in Osozaki no Himawari and MOZU, this is somewhat refreshing. But I must say, I really love her when she's talking in her serious mode. Higashide Masahiro is good, I was really focused when he's on screen because I wanted to gauge his acting, now I'm looking forward to watching the Ao Haru Ride live-action film more. Nikaido Fumi and Takahata Mitsuki are both good and cute! I've watched them before in different dramas but I think this drama is what I liked most among their projects, by far. Seeing Suda Masaki here is a delight, I am liking him more and more, though his role here was quite a jerk. Matsuoka Mayu is admirable. I can't get enough of her face in episode 3 when she was with her parents at Symphonic and her mom revealed something. I think that scene will be one of my treasures. I have these treasured scenes which are just so heartfelt, there can be so much tears/talk or there can only be silence, but emotions are just pouring. This can be one of those! The scene is heartfelt because of Matsuoka Mayu's acting. While watching the drama I've been thinking that she's familiar and I may have watched her in some drama before, turns out it was in Saitou-san 2. Usually, I wouldn't which role did she portray if it wasn't a major character, but I guess she already made a mark on me that time, because I actually remembered that she was the teen who got pregnant even if that wasn't a major character.

Character development: +1
As I've mentioned earlier, where the characters are coming from with their decisions and thoughts are conveyed very well. You will understand, thus, you can't blame them. You can blame society instead. Lol. Most of the main characters, the girls, they all learned and were able to be happy.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's Mondai Girl is really catchy!

Every episode was a fun watch: +1
I found most parts of the first episode boring because they were all just talking there randomly, but I didn't know it'll be the start of their venture. I'm still going to say that every episode was a fun watch, because at the latter part of the first episode, it just got really interesting and it just went on until the final episode.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: +1
I really did anticipate them. I got really hooked after the first episode. I was watching until 2-3AM. I finished it within 3 days, even if I have my games, and my part-time tasks. Hahaha.

It became a favorite: +1
Oh yes! It surprisingly became a favorite. I didn't expect much from this drama, but I ended up getting really hooked into it.

(minus .5)
Here's a point that really bothers me. The person who went against them and kept complaining about their restaurant, I wonder who is that? It was never revealed, right? I didn't just miss it, right? I'm really curious on his identity, I want to strangle him! (This makes my hopes up for a season 2! Hahaha!)

Final Rating: 9.5/10

Other comments/thoughts:
My statement on the portrayal of roles just went on and on, it ended up quite long! I think I've already said enough, and I've expressed my love for it. Season 2, please! XD :)

Update Post #4

My 4th update post is here! :)

1. Arashi no Waku Waku Gakkou 2015

Arashi will have Hey! Say! JUMP as their students on the annual Waku Waku Gakkou in June! Those who will be able to attend are so lucky, they get to see my two most favorite Johnnys group in one venue!

I haven't bought any new fandom stuff for several months but I'm eye-ing to buy the Waku Waku Gakkou clearfile with both Arashi and Hey! Say! JUMP together! I can't miss it since it's so rare that they have fandom goods together. Oh please, just that!

2. Done watching Mondai no Aru Restaurant

Last May 25, I've already finished watching Mondai no Aru Restaurant. I finished it within 2 days because it's so engaging, so good! I really like it! It has this sense of humanity, people will be able to relate, I did. My review about this drama is coming soon!

3. 18TH Asian Senior Women's Volleyball

It's going to end in 2 days but I haven't watched a single match! :( Where are the live-streams?! I wonder what happened to Japan Women's Volleyball Team already. I hope they can win a medal!

4. Amachan start!

I started watching Amachan already, each episode is only 15 minutes long! This is my first asadora so I'm surprised. I thought it's around 45-minute to 1-hour long like the Japanese dramas aired in the evening. I can't quite understand what's so thrilling with it yet (why it got all the hype), but I would really want to know!

---
Nothing much to say this time. I just hope someone actually reads my drama reviews which I posted recently. I might make film reviews here too, but I'm still thinking about that. About the tags for my posts, I haven't worked on it yet. Well, life. But hopefully soon! That's all for now. Thank you for reading!

Ouroboros Drama Review

(Credits for the photo goes to its rightful owner)

"Ouroboros" is an ancient symbol that depicts a snake eating its own tail - meaning infinity. Based on a popular comic, a clumsy detective and a cool gang stand up to true evil. Ikuo and Tatsuya grew up in a children's orphanage together. When their favorite teacher, Yuiko, is murdered, a policeman wearing a gold watch covers up the incident. Ikuo and Tatsuya promise each other to avenge their teacher someday. Twenty years later, Ikuo is a detective in Shinjuku second police station investigating various cases with elite detective - Mizuki, while smart and handsome Tatsuya has become one of the top members of a gang group. (from dramawiki)

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: +1
Who wouldn't find the synopsis interesting? I love crime/detective dramas, and this one has a twist where our protagonists aren't really the humble type. They are seeking for revenge, and it's intriguing how they shall act upon it.

Story development: +1
The story development is really good. It was thrilling because something is actually happening in every episode.

Conclusion: 0
(Heavy spoiler ahead) I didn't quite like that the two protagonists died in the end. I think they could've atoned for their sins in prison. Well, I could probably like it more if only Tatsuya died since he was in critical condition, but I just can't accept Ikuo's suicide. Really, everything was great up until that part where they are both dead.

Members of the cast: +1
Yes, of course. Ikuta Toma and Oguri Shun are both love! I like Ueno Juri too.

Portrayal of roles: +1
Yet again, I've witnessed how flexible both Ikuta Toma's and Oguri's Shun's acting are. As I've mentioned before here in my blog, I didn't see a hint of their Nakatsu Shuichi and Sano Izumi characters (their roles from Hana Kimi 2007), they are totally Danno Tatsuya and Ryuuzaki Ikuo in this drama. The acting skills of the rest of the cast members weren't left behind as well, they were equally laudable.

Character development: +1
Yes, I like the depth of each character, they all have something within them. It's not just the protagonists who has reasons for their actions, but almost everyone. I did see the characters learning and showing their emotions. Though with the ending, it quite failed in that.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
Oh yes! I didn't skip until the ending song finishes in each episode. Why? It's Arashi singing! It's their first time providing an ending song for a drama wherein none of the Arashi members are starring. But, they are good friends with Ikuta Toma who's from the same agency. Also, Arashi's Jun is good friends with Oguri Shun as well. Sakura (the song title) is a deep song, I must say.

Every episode was a fun watch: +1
Yes, it'll put you at the edge of your seat. It's going to keep you busy thinking who's the real man behind the killing of Ikuo and Tatsuya's beloved Yuiko-sensei.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: +1
Yes, I really wanted to know more hints and guess who is the man to be blamed for everything that happened.

It became a favorite: +1
I could forgive the ending, this is really a good one despite that. And, I really cherish that Oguri Shun and Ikuta Toma were reunited in this drama. I found an unexpected little chemistry too between Ikuta Toma and Ueno Juri. (But, I still think Ueno Juri's chemistry with Matsumoto Jun in the film Hidamari no Kanojo was more unexpected! I didn't really see them clicking, but they did, and they did splendidly!)

Final Rating: 9/10

Other comments/thoughts:
No minuses since I already put a zero in the conclusion. I really like this one, and even if I know the ending won't satisfy me, I wouldn't mind watching it again.

The Idol Dormitory

I recently installed a love dating simulation otome game again after quite awhile. The title of the game is The Idol Dormitory. It's available for free, just search it on Google Play.

The Idol Dormitory is literally about a dormitory for idols. That is the setting. You will meet one of the idols living in there and he will ask you to be the matron of their dormitory. It appeals to me a lot since I'm a fan of Japanese idols, and imagining that I live with them is heaven. Lol.

I chose Narishige Tetsuya, but I might change it in the future. I am kind of getting turned off with him. Lol. I recently met the twins and I found the older twin attractive. I would want to know him more!

I recommend this otome game to idol fangirls! C'mon, let's dream together! Hahaha! But this is good in making my heart kyun-kyun from time to time!

Nazo no Tenkousei Drama Review

(Credits for the photo goes to its rightful owner)

"Iwata Koichi (Nakamura Aoi) and Kagawa Midori (Sakurai Minami) are second-year students at Tozaiyama High School. One day, while coming home from school, they discover a shooting star rising up in the sky. The next day, Midori sees a shining figure in school and everyone on the school grounds starts talking about a ghost. At that point, a mysterious transfer student called Yamazawa Norio (Hongo Kanata) suddenly arrives at the school and moves in to live next door to Koichi. Strange things begin to happen frequently around Koichi whenever Norio appears. The reason and objective of Norio’s arrival in this world is gradually revealed." - dramawiki

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: +1
I'm not really into Sci-Fi, but since they incorporated this in the human world, I found it somewhat interesting.

Story development: +1
I honestly think there were some dead scenes, or scenes which are not that relevant or could have been relevant if they just thought about it more. The development gets good in the latter episodes, so I'm still giving this a plus one.

Conclusion: +1
I was hoping to watch more of Koichi and Midori's romance but I guess it's fine how it ended. I was pretty pleased because the happenings in the latter episodes were very engaging and it ended well.

Members of the cast: +1
Yes, Hongo Kanata is beyond amusing. My opinion about Nakamura Aoi's acting is on and off. This time, Aoi's acting is on. I really admired him with this portrayal. Sakurai Minami is a discovery. Sadly, this is her only drama as of writing. I hope to watch more of her in the future. I don't know what's with the hype with Sugisaki Hana, her acting is okay but I don't think it's really astounding, but whatever.

Portrayal of roles: +1
The four whom I've mentioned above were all good. I really think they did well with their acting. The dead scenes were dead not because of them, but with what's happening in the story.

Character development: +1
Good character development. Koichi and Midori has furthered their relationship upon the arrival of the mysterious transfer student. I believe they learn a lot about the world, their feelings, and their own selves.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
Sakurai Minami's song is good. I'm quite surprised that it was her who sang the song, I didn't know she's also a singer. The song really suited the drama well, the emotions were there.

Every episode was a fun watch: 0
Sorry, but no. I almost fell asleep around episode 2 to 6 because they were not engaging.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: 0
There were times when I thought I just wanted it to end so I can move on to other dramas already.

It became a favorite: 0
No, though it really got me with the latter episodes, I don't think I can watch this over and over again.

(minus .5)
I thought the story was going nowhere from episode 1 to episode 7. The story development was so slow. And so, I'm taking half from the point I gave for the story development.

Final Rating: 6.5/10

Other comments/thoughts:
It was really a grind watching episodes 1 to 7, but I didn't like leaving a drama halfway, so I just went with it. I'm glad I still finished this though, episodes 8 to 12 were really interesting and heartfelt. I love the emotions conveyed, I felt it. It was sad, but it was calming as well. But I'm really sorry for the first 7 episodes, the progress was too slow, I got bored.

Watashi no Kirai na Tantei Drama Review

(Credits for the photo goes to the rightful owner)

Based on the best-selling serial novels by Higashigawa Tokuya, the drama is about private investigator Ukai Morio, a man who talks much. The story starts with Morio and policeman Tomura Ryuhei at a gorgeous mansion with three gentlemen and two ladies, and a murder to solve. - dramawiki

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: +1
I believe every mystery drama is interesting in their own ways, this one showed promise and is quite attractive, but the first episode just ruined my interest. I will still credit a plus one since it has a good plot with potential.

Story development: 0
I know this is comedy too, but I'm not sure about the comedic quality. What has been happening during their investigation just appeared so random to me.

Conclusion: 0
I couldn't see much development to the story, how can I be satisfied with the ending? I probably would have been happy at least if the two leads learned two work together without Ayame's character being so random and weird.

Members of the cast: +1
I like Tamaki Hiroshi and Gouriki Ayame that's why I even prioritized watching this one.

Portrayal of roles: +1
Good portrayal of roles, I still appreciate Tamaki Hiroshi and Gouriki Ayame. I think they did fine.

Character development: 0
I feel sorry for the potential that was this was so random, it turned out to be a flop with no core. Wasted good actors, most especially, they have Tamaki Hiroshi as a member of the cast, but then he was given this mediocre character to portray.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
Gouriki Ayame's song is a little addicting.

Every episode was a fun watch: 0
No. Sorry, it was a grind finishing the dramas even if there were only 8 episodes.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: 0
Not really. I hate leaving a drama unfinished, so I always see dramas all the way until the last episode regardless if it's fun to watch or not. For this, I was looking forward to watch the next episodes, just so I could move forward to watching another drama.

It became a favorite: 0
From what I have been writing, of course, this is a no.

(minus .5)
The characters just lack in core, I couldn't understand where they are coming from. I think this could have been better if, in some way, they have shown why Tamaki Hiroshi's character is so obsessed with money (is he like that when he's young or is it because of something he experienced while growing up?). Also, why is Gouriki Ayame's character so obsessed with solving crimes, why can she decipher the reason why the culprits committed the crimes, why is she so rich, or just what the hell is with her? The freeter who was helping them by giving tips on the cases they are solving, I hope they put a little story to that too in the end. On how he gets those tips and stuff (like he is really an undercover agent or something). Wouldn't that make more sense?

(minus .5)
The extremely long explanation of Ninomiya Akemi about the case every episode is unnecessary. I can understand if they kept this short because it somehow still helps give an idea to Detective Ukai, but it's taking too much precious time every episode, and to everyone's dismay, it's always wrong.

Final Rating: 3/10

Other comments/thoughts:
I still like Tamaki Hiroshi and Gouriki Ayame a lot, though I would admit this has to be one of the lamest dramas of the two of them. Is this really a best-selling serial novel? Or did they adapt that best selling serial novel seriously?

Nemureru Mori no Jukujo Drama Review

(Credits for the photo goes to its rightful owner)

"One day, 46-year-old full-time housewife Aizawa Chinami is suddenly asked by her husband Hiroshi to give him a divorce because he wants to marry his classmate from junior high school days. This woman is his first love, Moriyama Haruko, now the editor of a popular female magazine. They had reconnected through social media and he wishes to start life over again. And so, Chinami loses everything that she has created as a housewife because of her husband’s infidelity. Then there is the issue of custody of their son, Kakeru. While in the midst of a difficult divorce settlement, a depressed Chinami indulges in alcohol at a hotel where she has memories of happier times with Hiroshi and gets absolutely foxed. The next morning, the person who had tended to Chinami anonymously introduces her to a cleaning job at the hotel. This person is actually Takaoka Yusuke, the young general manager of the hotel. Almost two times younger than Chinami, Yusuke is the son of the owner of the global chain of hotels, Hotel Takaoka International, and goes by the nickname “Prince”. In front of hotel staff, he behaves like the perfect man, but he is at heart a warped, loathsome character ..." - dramawiki

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest. Please view my criteria here.
(This may contain spoilers, I tried to limit them, but please read at your own discretion.)

Interesting synopsis: +1
Very interesting. I haven't read the plot not until I have watched it, so I'm basing this on my impression on the first episode. Though I've watched several dramas where an older woman falls for a younger man which goes usually like this - the older woman is old but still very inexperience with love,  Nemureru Mori no Jukujo has a unique and intriguing setting of someone being a divorcee instead. I guess it brought a lot of matter to discuss in the drama, and that's why I think it's very interesting.

Story development: +1
You know they will fall for each other, but you wouldn't predict exactly what will be their decisions, and what will happen with their circumstances. I like the idea that it kind of says that adults are not right all the time, they can can still fail, and they are still learning as well. And at some time, they can be weak too.

Conclusion: +1
I would have wanted it to end where they officially start a relationship, but I guess it's still fine like that. I guess our heroine Chinami still needs time to think about things after her divorce. So the ending is very much likable.

Members of the cast: +1
I really like Seto Koji and he's the primary reason why I watched this drama. So yes, plus one for this.

Portrayal of roles: +1
This is the first time I've watched Seto Koji playing a two-faced character, and I must say he is really good. There were a few times when i thought Kusakari Tamiyo was a little awkward to watch, but overall, I think she pulled this one off well. Though, I'm wondering why she was given the role when she is not known for having drama series.

Character development: +1
I love it how both Chinami and Yusuke were mature enough to handle their own shortcomings. I think both characters are very admirable, Chinami's son is an admirable character as well. The husband was a jerk, the company president was a jerk, the company president's wife was a pain, but in the end, I couldn't hate any character at all. Everyone was human and has conscience after all.

OST/Theme song/Insert song used: +1
I really like the background music used in this one, because they blended the setting/situation very well. So yes, a plus.

Every episode was a fun watch: +1
Yes. Just yes.

Made me anticipate for the next episodes: +1
I finished this drama within 2 days, I was looking forward to every episode to witness how their relationship goes.

It became a favorite: +1
Yes, this is a heavy drama and it's great. Everything just fell into place in the end.

(minus .5)
The lead woman, Chinami, is a little awkward (It might be the actress' portrayal, I can't just let this pass after all), but it's just a "little", it only bothered me for a few times. I couldn't really understand some of Chinami's decisions and ideas though. I wonder if that's because of our age difference.

Final Rating: 9.5/10

Other comments/thoughts:
I thought this is nothing new since this type of drama (older woman - younger man relationship) is really popular nowadays. Not until, I've read somewhere that this is probably the one which started the trend for this type of drama, I thought I have to prioritize this one. This was a very good watch. I like it a lot.

Japanese Drama Reviews Coming Soon

I decided to review some Japanese dramas I have watched. I shall start posting them in the following days. :) I'll indicate in this post my criteria in rating the dramas. I won't delve much on the cinematography since I don't have much opinion about that.

Rating: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest

+1 Interesting synopsis: The drama got me with its plot, and one of the main reasons I opted to watch the drama.

+1 Story development: The story develops into an agreeable one. It might be predictable or might be not, but whichever it is, it still kept me engage.

+1 Conclusion: The ending is very acceptable and didn't fail my expectation.

+1 Members of the cast: I like the casting.

+1 Portrayal of roles: I found the portrayal of roles effective and heartfelt. I think most of the members of the cast were very much suited for their roles.

+1 Character development: The characters were very likable (they act with reason and sense), regardless of being protagonists or antagonists. They progressed with the story.

+1 OST/Theme song/Insert song used: The OST/theme song/insert song were noticeable and fit the drama very well. I took notice of and liked at least one from the background music, opening song, ending song and insert song.

+1 Every episode was a fun watch: I didn't find any dead scenes (boring scenes which I thought could just passed by quickly). I enjoyed every scene and found it relevant.

+1 Made me anticipate for the next episodes: I actually found myself looking forward to the next episodes. I finished the drama in just a short period (for dramas which have finished airing before I watch it) or I faithfully watch the drama weekly (for dramas which are ongoing while I'm watching it).

+1 It became a favorite: I enjoyed the wholeness of the dramas, liked it very much, and is now added to my list  of favorites.

Please be reminded that the ratings here are my own, and not of anyone else. If ever you agree with my rating then that's good to know, but if not, I'll be grateful if you can respect my opinion. I'll be delighted to hear your own say about the dramas as well, so feel free to comment your thoughts. :)
